Stop Smoking: Natural Therapies and Support

Attempting to stop smoking has most likely been a repeated event. Natural therapies and proper nutrient balance provides much needed support. Because of the chemical laden cigarette products today, quitting has become especially hard for most people trying to rid themselves of this disease promoting habit. Nutritional help is needed to support the over worked immune system and for assistance in mood balancing. A first step will be focusing on help with the quitting process and how to cleanse away chemical and poisonous substances to lessen side effects.

The First One is a type of Aversion Therapy

Stop smoking except for one hour daily. Smoke constantly during thatcigarette- hour. Take fifteen drops of Lobelia tincture half an hour before the last cigarette. Take this same quantity of Lobelia tincture every fifteen minutes during the remainder of the smoking hour. This will produce nausea. Its association with smoking can eliminate the desire for cigarettes in just 5 to 6 days. Lobelia is very helpful for healing respiratory illnesses. For example, bronchitis, asthma and whopping cough.

Salt Bath

Epsom salt bath: Pour 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salt into a warm bath. Soaking in a salt bath will help draw out the nicotine and tar via the skin. This process can help prevent its reintroduction back into the bloodstream. I suggest using a coarse exfoliating sponge or loofah to enhance the skin cleansing. Otherwise the longer you soak, the more debris will be removed.

I have known a few people who smoke excessively and noticed how discolored their skin was. I once gave a gift certificate to someone for a facial and I truly will never forget how different their skin color had become.

If you feel you have too much salt residue, shower or bathe after theglass-621709_1280 Epsom salt bath. If you dry off using a white towel you will see the residue of nicotine that has been excreted. Deep tissue cleansing will occur if you add raw vegetable and green juice to your daily food intake. For more assistance to further remove tar and chemicals, exercise and bowel cleansing procedures such as colonics or colemas (colon flushes) will help the body eliminate toxins from smoking.

Salt Bath Really Helps You Sleep

The following therapy was one that I had learned in university to help weak kidneys since they are required to uptake minerals. A warm bath of 3 to 4 cups of salt (any salt) strengthened weak kidneys. The side effect was for any of the individuals who were taking sleeping medications, went off their meds without any other help. A salt bath relaxes the nervous system.

Diet Intervention

To prevent sugar highs and lows eat small meals 6 times a day. This will help avoid food cravings. Make sure the diet consists of mainly fruits, vegetables, quality protein and whole grain type of carbohydrates. No refined sugar and white flour products. Stay away from alcohol, pop, candy and pastries. Eat plain yogurt with raw honey and fruit as a snack. Or pop corn is acceptable preferably without salt. A little butter is okay.

Supplements Often Necessary to Prevent Mouth Problems

Vitamin C: You lose 35 milligrams of vitamin C with every cigarette. You also require extra minerals like calcium and silicon. Vitamin D and a broad spectrum of quality minerals and vitamins are necessary, especially if you continue to smoke. Look at your gums. Are they receding from your teeth and what color are your gums and teeth? These are accurate makers showing nutrient depletion in the body.

Mood Swings

The following suggestions will have a very positive impact on the symptoms of anxiety and stress associated with quiting smoking.

Omega 3 fatty acids are absolutely essential for tissue repair and feeding the glands. Support your thyroid and adrenal glands to encourage them to produce more hormones.

Iodine drops for the thyroid is the bare minimum – and tyrosine and desiccated glandular extract will assist more but you still need iodine daily. (Iodine is required daily in order for the thyroid gland to make thyroid hormone)

L-Tyrosine – this amino acid will greatly enhance your moods for it converts to dopamine in the brain, as well as, produces the main adrenal hormones – epinephrine and adrenaline. Tyrosine is also the main energy component in the body. We could all use more energy.

Adrenal glands need quality fats, B vitamins and sometimes extra B 5 is needed. You can purchase full combination formulas for both of these glands to ensure adequate nutrient coverage. The thyroid and adrenal glands and certain amino acids are tied into the brains neurotransmitters. These glands are instrumental in dealing with the additional ill feelings that require calming and for an increase in energy output.
